During the design of this 90 bed facility, emphasis was placed on quality of life for future residents, with independent security and dignity as an important design philosophy. The result is a contemporary and modern design that imparts a home like feel for residents. Material usage of concrete, rendered blockwork, EPS trims, Hardies Exotec external cladding, feature stone wall panels and corrugated steel roof sheeting combine with feature external paint colours to provide the building with an air of permanence of place in its residential locality.
Facilities provided are second to none and incorporate function rooms, cafeteria, theatre, lounge rooms, dining rooms and sitting rooms, hairdressing salon, library and computer stations. Two lifts are located directly at the main entrance beside reception. From arrival at the Porte Cochere, residents and visitors experience the welcoming smells of coffee from the cafeteria while being able to enjoy the garden views of the court yard area beyond.
Auckland Place was the regional winner of the Queensland Master Builders Housing & Construction Award 2011 for Health & Education Facilities over 15 million dollars.
